Introducing Ball Coach™: The Radar Gun Designed for Coaching and Training, Brand New for 2014

by Tyler Scaturro February 12, 2014

After working with top coaches from the baseball and softball communities over the past few years and incorporating their feedback, the Ball Coach™ radar was specifically designed to easily measure the speeds of hits and pitches.  It will automatically find the fastest speed of a ball in flight.  This is different from the Pocket Radar Classic model, which is an all purpose speed radar that would measure anything from car speeds, bike speeds, runner speeds, RC plane/car speeds, etc… and would also provide acceleration and deceleration.  On the Pocket Radar classic model when you want to measure ball speed, you need to manually time the trigger, by tapping the button at the right time to get the reading right out of the hand or right off the bat.  This requires a bit of hand-eye coordination that is inconvenient to some people. This is why we engineered the new Ball Coach model to find every ball, every time, with automatic ball-tracking.  The Ball Coach is the first radar gun designed specifically for coaching and training.  Powerful new features include: hands free Constant-On mode, easy automatic triggering, ball speed off the bat, and deeper memory.

Hands Free Constant-On Mode:  Easily integrate speed measurement into your coaching and training with this mode, and focus on the coaching and training instead of the radar gun.  Set on any type of tripod with a smart phone tripod mount and pick up pitch speeds, hit speeds, catcher throw down speeds, position player arm strength, pitching machine speeds and whatever else you can think of.  It is important to remember that if you plan to use Constant-On mode frequently, we recommend purchasing rechargeable NiMH AAA batteries, as this mode will go through the batteries much faster. You can get over 2 hours of  battery life in Constant-on mode with NiMH rechargeable batteries and about 1 hour of battery life with the included Alkaline batteries. (Manual mode with give over 2000 readings.)

Easy Automatic Triggering:  No need to worry about the timing anymore.  The new technology in the Ball Coach allows for automatic ball-tracking.  Simply hold down the button until the speed appears, and then release.  As stated earlier, the Ball Coach was specifically designed to measure the fastest speed of a ball in flight.  This means if you continue to hold the button down, the hit speed will appear shortly after the pitch speed, as long as it is a well-hit line drive and the hit speed is faster.  This works the same with Constant-On Mode.

Ball Speed Off the Bat:  Did you know Ball Exit Speed off the Bat (also referred to as hit speed) is a direct measure of the power of a hit?  For every added 1 MPH of Exit Speed, a well-hit ball will travel an extra 4 to 6 feet of distance.  The Ball Coach easily provides hit speed measurement during tee work, soft-toss, front-toss, batting practice (off machine or live pitching) and game situation live pitching (as long as it is a well-hit line drive and the hit speed is faster).

25 Deep Recall Memory:  Larger memory allows you to review up to the previous 25 speed measurements.  Set up the unit in Constant-On Mode and easily chart bullpens, or work on coaching and training, and review the measurements when you are finished.

With the Ball Coach™, provide instant feedback while observing mechanics at the same time.  Measure athlete performance and accelerate skills improvement, by training with measurable results at home and practice.
