Dykstra Baseball Reviews the Ball Coach Radar

by Tyler Scaturro February 27, 2017

We are proud to partner with Dykstra Baseball, and look forward to helping bring speed measurement to their training by using our Ball Coach radar.  Here is a little more background info about them:  Dykstra Baseball is a one-of-a-kind baseball organization founded by former MLB player Allan Dykstra. Our goal is to take what’s taught and expected at the professional level and then tailor it to the specific player’s current skill-set. We do this through in-person lessons, camps and our cutting edge online baseball instruction and player analysis.  Learn more at their website:  Dykstra Baseball

Allan Dykstra is one of many coaches/trainers in multiple sports that has found the value of adding speed measurements into practice as a powerful training aid for their players and coaching methods.  Unlike the bulkier and more expensive radar guns of the past, used exclusively by scouts to measure fastball velocity, the Ball Coach radar was designed as a training tool for coaches and athletes.  It is just as accurate within 120 feet of range on a baseball, and its discreet size makes it ideal for measuring youth and professional athletes without affecting behavior.

The Ball Coach radar provides accurate speed measurements that have allowed players to develop a new level of confidence in hopes of improving their skills over time. Confidence is an acquired skill that is developed over time, but is key when training and performing.

Here is some feedback we received from Allan and hitting instructor Eric Peyton (former player and minor league hitting coach with the Padres) about their use of the Ball Coach radar during training with their players:

“Pocket Radar is at the cutting edge of the technology wave in baseball training.  The Ball Coach radar puts the most important information to college coaches and professional scouts in your hands with an easy to use and portable system.  As a player knowing your velocity numbers, throwing and hitting exit velocity, allows you to get instant feedback on your training and gives you tangible goals to work towards.  It shows when progress is being made by the player which is priceless.”Allan Dykstra

“The Ball Coach radar allows me to carry my radar gun where ever I go.  I am able to check the exit velocity of a swing anytime I need to. Very valuable instrument.  Hitter’s approach change when they know their numbers”  -Eric Peyton
