"More Than a Radar Gun," with Scott Patterson

by Tyler Scaturro July 23, 2020

"In these times where they can’t see their friends or teachers or even the fly balls they hit.... it gets pretty old.  Finding new and interesting motivation is difficult - and the one thing that has tangible external input to his effort is the number. The radar gun matters.  It’s more than a radar gun right now.  Its replacing the cheering parents, the groaning opponents, it replaces the hitter in the batter’s box, the umpire and the coach.   It’s a part of his purpose- it’s an outlet.   Sounds crazy and dramatic I know, but for the players it’s real."

- Scott Patterson discussing how his son, Jay (HS Freshman), has been staying motivated with his training during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Here are Jay's words about using the Smart Coach App System:

"I would recommend this to other athletes because it makes the game more fun, and it shows where you are currently at to help you improve and be the best player you can be."

Best of luck to Jay and his father as they continue on their baseball journey.  If you would like to potentially be featured in a future article, please email sm@PocketRadar.com
